WELCOME TO THE NATIONAL HEALTH CORPS
The National Health Corps (NHC) is an AmeriCorps National Direct program funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). We have a proud 16 year history of engaging members from around the country in providing dedicated service to underserved communities.
As a Health Corps, we are passionate about reducing barriers and increasing access to health care services for underserved communities, to promoting the health and wellness of communities, and to fostering our members’ pursuit of health related careers and a lifelong ethic of service.
Currently, 94 NHC members are serving at sites in Chicago, North Florida, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and our new program site in Atlanta. NHC members are hosted by health services and public health organizations including health centers, county health departments, schools, and community-based non-profits.
Our members serve 1700 hours over 46 weeks. They make an impact and help communities by engaging in direct services activities such as teaching health education workshops, organizing youth running clubs, leading healthy eating classes, enrolling people in health insurance & free pharmaceutical programs and providing patient navigation services.
