Role of Media in Health Care

As I started my service, I've always been interested in how the media plays a significant role in health care. Before my service, I was only aware of how the press shares information and how it impacts people's opinions and routines. I only know that people relied on the media during the pandemic to collect news and updates. However, I needed to be aware of the process and limitations on what you can show and can't. Editing public materials such as flyers and brochures for my host site allowed me to explore and learn more about health issues, healthcare systems, and resources. With all the materials we make, ensuring that all the information we give is accurate is the most critical part of the process.

Social Media has been one of the most important channels to disseminate information and communication. Public materials such as posters, flyers, and infographics allow every organization to promote and educate the community about its services. As part of a team that creates educational materials, I have been responsible for ensuring that all the information we provide will reach the community and avoiding false information that misleads people, especially regarding health-related topics.

Other than ensuring that the information is accurate, it is also essential to put effort into the visuals of the materials you produce. People tend to engage more in materials that allow them to visualize the concept. Providing charts, photos, videos, maps, and other visual aids gives them a better understanding of the subject matter.

Despite the platform's benefits, spreading false information is still unavoidable. There are still a lot of barriers that need to be improved, which organizations can partake of. Build engagement, set goals and objectives, share accurate information, and make it accessible and inclusive. Our platform now helps the healthcare industry engage more with their patients; it's our duty to produce reliable and accurate healthcare information.
