Meet NHC Chicago '19-20 member Deanndra!

Hi everyone! My name is Deanndra Jeanbaptiste and I am from Miami, FL. I recently graduated this past May from Howard University, where I majored in Health, Human Performance, and Leisure Studies and minored in Chemistry. In my spare time, I enjoy experimenting and creating natural skin care products, crafting, and cooking.

I've always enjoyed helping others and learning about health. This is why I am very excited about serving with the National Health Corps Chicago for the 2019-2020 term, as it incorporates both of my passions. Prior to my service year, I've volunteered at a clinic and provided public health counseling in Leogane, Haiti, a community where many individuals did not have access to medical care. ThisĀ  service term, I am hoping to expand my knowledge in public health and heighten my sense of awareness of healthcare issues that occur amongst different communities and populations of people.

As a first-timer in Chicago, I am most looking forward to meeting new people and creating new experiences in this new city, as well as being in the position of helping and supporting others through health and compassion.
