Outreach Coordinator

Major Duties and Responsibilities

- Providing outreach to agencies to build awareness

- Actively participating in health campaigns by monitoring health issue trends

- Developing and providing health education for the community

- Providing health education to at-risk populations, creating basic curriculum and revisiting and revising it, recruiting students for classes on health

- teaching classes/workshops in-person and remote on health

- Providing outreach in the community to promote services

- linking clients from community organizations to services

- Developing and conducting needs assessment through focus groups

- Doing educational presentations

- Developing educational materials

Knowledge Required for the Position

- Knowledge of Americorps/Health Corps member requirements

- Skill with Microsoft Office or other software for a variety of data processing operations involving a range of problem solving, record keeping, correspondence, and service tracking options

 

 

 

Supervision

- Member uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments for following set procedures, independently

- The supervisor assigns service activities in terms of project objectives and basic priorities and is available for consultation in resolving controversial issues

 

 

 

Review

- The service activities are reviewed for accuracy through spot checks, through complaints from customers, and through observation of the Member at service

- Completed projects are reviewed very generally to determine that objectives have been met and are in compliance with policies and regulations

 

 

 

 

Guidelines

- Written and oral guides provide specific instructions for doing service

- Detailed guidelines exist, including regulations and directives, handbooks, precedents, industry standards and files of previous projects

 

 

 

 

Complexity

- Member has to develop, analyze, or evaluate information before the service position can progress

- In making decisions, the Member is often required to depart from past approaches and to extend traditional techniques

- The Member must develop new techniques, methods, or approaches to complete service position assignments

 

Special Considerations

- Unusual service hours, involving evenings, weekends, or long shifts

- Health screening or service required

- Personal Vehicle recommended. Travel up to 20% of time
