Position Title:

Shelter Healthcare Coordinator

Where are you from?

I was born in South Korea but moved to the U.S. when I was in elementary school. I have lived here ever since – in Georgia, New Hampshire, and now in California.

Why did you decide to join NHC?

Throughout my undergraduate career, I have developed a commitment to public health and equity by conducting research in biology and social justice. NHC will allow me to gain first-hand experience in San Francisco with underserved populations, working with a diverse team of healthcare providers and advocates.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

From previous service experiences I was able to get an idea of the gaps in the healthcare system. Through my NHC term I am looking forward to learning about the practical solutions and efforts that people are pursuing to bridge those gaps. I am also looking to contribute to the team of providers that work in our city’s shelters.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I cannot wait to meet everyone at my host site and get to know the staff members and my peers in my cohort!
