What are you up to now?

I work at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo. I am a Mental Health Professional on their psychiatric units.

Did your AmeriCorps experience have any influence on what you are doing today?

Yes, I would not be able to work with this population of patients every day if not for my AmeriCorps experience at Health Care for the Homeless.

In 3 words, describe your AmeriCorps service year!

Hectic, educational, worth-while

What advice would you give current members as they plan for their "life after AmeriCorps"?

Not everyone will be impressed by your service so prepare for let-downs at times. But the service you provided was essential and you will learn so much about yourself and your capabilities, which will take you farther than you imagined.

Your favorite quote about service

“In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe it's wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.” ― Elizabeth Gilbert
