Program Director, NHC NEPA: Community Health Fellowship, NHC AmeriCorps Commonwealth Civilian Coronavirus Corps (CCCC)

Mary Theresa Mazur (she/her) is proud to be a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania and pleased to serve as Program Director of the NHC AmeriCorps Commonwealth Civilian Coronavirus Corps. She describes herself as a lifelong learner who earned a master’s degree in communications from Marywood University the same year her daughters graduated from elementary school and high school. Throughout her career, she has shared her talents with many community health projects including producing a health education program for WVIA-TV, serving as a school health coordinator for Steps to a Healthier PA in Luzerne County, a Community Health Associate for Geisinger’s Fresh Food Farmacy and Manager of Regional Affairs for Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.

During the great stay-in of 2020, she earned a certification in health coaching from the American Council on Exercise. In her free time, she and her husband enjoy the parks and trails in NEPA, concerts and theater events, healthy cooking, reading, local history, traveling and visiting Washington, DC to spend time with their daughters. Her day doesn’t end until she finishes a fiercely competitive game of Scrabble against “Zoe” on her favorite phone app!
