Host Site: Florida Department of Health in Clay County - Bear Run Clinic

 

What is your title and role at your host site? I am the health educator/healthiest weight coach at the FDOH Clay County. My role is to coach clients who are severely obese towards a healthier weight and lifestyle that will eventually improve their overall wellbeing.

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps? My past experiences in public health have inspired me to learn more about health disparities within the US and work with an underserved population. I want to work directly with people and help improve the health and wellness within a community.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service? I hope to become more knowledgeable of healthcare issues that affect millions of Americans and possible ways to address them. In addition, I hope to form meaningful relationships with my clients that will have a lasting positive impact on their lives.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service? Medical School

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years? Working as a resident!
