Originally from the East Bay Area. Sophia joined Health Corps as an Opioid Safety Coordinator after a year of researching and writing about opioids and e-cigarettes so that she could gain hands-on experience in substance use prevention, education, and treatment. Sophia aspires to serve with persistent empathy and flexibility, recognizing the disdain and disregard with which individuals with Substance Use Disorders are often treated and functioning as a small resistance to that injustice. Sophia already knows that this year of service will push her to expand her skillset, and she hopes that it will function as a central reference point for her career in health policy moving forward.
