Where are you from?

Greenville, North Carolina

Why did you decide to join NHC?

Working with individuals who are homeless or formerly homeless has been a passion of mine since I began volunteering as an undergraduate. My plan is to attend medical school and work as a primary care physician with rural and underserved populations. Joining NHC will give me ample time to explore my passion of serving medically-underserved individuals, and with my position as Case Manager with the Presbyterian Social Ministries, I can continue to make an impact on this population through health education, case management and community outreach.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I hope to gain a better understanding of the social determinants of health in individuals who are homeless or formerly homeless as well as ways I can work with clients to address these as a volunteer and future physician.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am looking forward to learning about the population of North Florida and the different elements of the community. Also, I am excited to explore many of the outdoor recreational activities that Florida has to offer!
