Why did you decide to join NHC? 

I chose to serve with NHC because I want to gain a deeper understanding of the physical and social determinants of health, as well as the health inequalities that exist in today’s healthcare system. I believe that everyone has the right to access affordable, compassionate, and high quality healthcare and I am excited to support an organization that strives to provide that in the city of Chicago and the surrounding areas.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I hope to gain a better understanding of the kinds of barriers in healthcare that exist for underinsured and uninsured populations. I am also hoping to gain experience advocating for patients and navigating community resources for vulnerable populations. 

What are you most looking forward to during your service term? 

During my service term, I’m looking forward to surrounding myself with a community of like-minded passionate people while also exploring and enjoying the beautiful city of Chicago :)
