Educational background: B.A. in Behavioral Neuroscience from Connecticut College

Host Site: University of Florida, Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education & Service (UF CARES).

 

What is your title and role at your host site? I will be working as a Health Educator. I will be involved in providing education and support to adolescents and adults receiving treatment and services at UF CARES.


Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps? I joined the National Health Corps because I believe it is important to give back to the community through service. I also joined the National Health Corps as a means to gain exposure to careers within the healthcare industry.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service? I am hoping to gain an appreciation for many of the difficulties underserved populations experience in accessing health care.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service? I am planning on applying to medical school following my time with AmeriCorps.


Where do you envision yourself in 5 years? In five years I will hopefully be completing my final year of medical school.
