Where are you from? (please answer this question using whatever definition you wish - where you were born, where you grew up, where you lived before NHC, the place you consider your home, etc.)
I was born and raised in South Korea before moving to the U.S. Before joining NHC, I’ve lived in Maryland and Southern California.
Why did you decide to join NHC?
I decided to join NHC because I care deeply about making quality healthcare more accessible, especially in communities that face barriers to care, like the ones I’ve witnessed and experienced. As an immigrant who’s navigated the public healthcare system, I want to give back and be part of something that helps people feel seen and supported as they take care of their health.
What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?
I hope to learn how a community health center runs and how it supports patients through its unique infrastructure. I’m especially interested in how rapport is built, both between staff and patients and within the community. I think seeing that up close will help me grow into someone who can offer care with more humility and understanding.
What are you most looking forward to during your service term?
I’m most looking forward to getting to know patients, learning from their experiences, and taking part in the diverse programs at Livingston Community Health Center. I’m also excited to work alongside fellow National Health Corps members and staff at Livingston Community Health.
