Position Title: Patient Healthcare Navigator

Where are you from?

Butler, PA

Why did you decide to join NHC?

In the past, I have found great fulfillment in volunteering at free healthcare clinics in underserved communities. I wanted to expand my commitment to improving public health by dedicating a year of service with the NHC to benefit a local community in need. Serving with the NHC and working with underserved patient populations presents me with an opportunity to remedy unmet healthcare needs and make a profound impact on people’s lives.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I hope to gain a comprehensive perspective into the nuances of public health and the healthcare system during my service year with the NHC. As a future healthcare provider, it is critical that I understand patients’ barriers to receiving healthcare as well as the determinants of adverse healthcare outcomes. I wish to learn from my interactions with patients to understand how I can best support their health and wellness.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am most looking forward to collaborating with healthcare workers, community partners, and my fellow NHC service members as we strive to improve the health of patients and entire populations.
