Jack Dokhanchi facing the camera directly and smiling. Jack is wearing a black suit jacket with a blue dress shirt buttoned up to the top button, and glasses sit squarely on his face. There is a tree in the background, and a courtyard with concrete floors, a grassy area, and a red wall in the distance.

Position Title:

COVID-19 Responder/Cardiovascular Coordinator

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in the Chicagoland Area and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am excited to move to the Bay Area, as I have relatives there as well!

Why did you decide to join NHC?

I joined the National Health Corps because I wanted to learn more about the public health field while serving vulnerable populations. Over the past year, I have worked with the Illinois Medical Professionals Action Collaborative Team (IMPACT) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 misinformation and promote equitable vaccine access through targeted infographics and advocacy campaigns. Along with continuing to combat COVID-19, joining NHC San Francisco will allow me to dig deeper and assist underserved populations adversely affected by the social determinants of health.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

I am looking to gain more hands-on public health experience to integrate into my hopeful career as a future physician. Combining the public health discipline and clinical care is essential in combatting COVID-19, future pandemics, and the negative effects of the social determinants of health.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I am most looking forward to being a part of a like-minded team that strives to improve the health of the communities they serve!
