Clara Li smiling

Name: Clara Li

Host Site: Nationalities Service Center

Position: General Health Access Liaison

Where are you from? I'm from New Haven, Connecticut! I attended Phillips Academy Andover for high school and Smith College for undergrad, so I've spent lots of time in Massachusetts as well.

Why did you decide to join NHC?
Before NHC, I helped counsel ESL and low-income patients at the HAVEN Free Clinic. Serving at the Nationalities Service Center struck me as a great way to continue this work full-time with an even more challenged population.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?
By the end of this service term, I'm hoping to have learned more about the specific healthcare barriers facing immigrants and refugees and the ways in which we can best address racial and socioeconomic disparities in medicine.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?
I'm really looking forward to living in a big city and hanging out with people with similar interests and goals, but different backgrounds from mine!
