Position Title:

Substance Use Navigator

Where are you from?

I grew up in La Palma, CA, and later moved to Los Angeles for college.

Why did you decide to join NHC?

Volunteering with under-resourced communities showed me how direct service and advocacy can meaningfully help people meet basic needs and access essential resources. These experiences inspired me to join NHC so I can work more closely with vulnerable populations and expand access to health services.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

During my service term, I hope to better understand the challenges marginalized communities face in accessing healthcare and use that knowledge to support patients more thoughtfully. I want to learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences while also developing skills in community outreach, care coordination, and patient advocacy.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

I’m really looking forward to connecting with my team, fellow NHC members, and the local community. I’m also super excited to explore SF, especially its parks, neighborhoods, and cuisine!
