Where are you from?

I was born in Ventura, California, and grew up in Santa Paula. I moved to Bakersfield with my parents when I was four years old and have stayed ever since.

Why did you decide to join NHC?

I decided to join NHC because I believe it is a fantastic opportunity to not only help and serve my community, as I enjoy helping and giving back to my community, but also to gain experience related to the major that I studied, as I intend to work in the health care industry, as a social worker, or as an elementary school teacher. I am confident that this program will enable me to grow as a person, meet new people, create connections, and learn.

What are you hoping to gain or learn during your service term?

What I hope to gain or learn during my year of service is the experience in the position I will be doing, but also to learn more about the healthcare industry, valuable skills, friendships, learn more about the scarcity of resources that exists and find solutions to those issues, and spread awareness, especially if it is a topic about mental health and abuse.

What are you most looking forward to during your service term?

What I am most excited about during my year of service is the opportunity to learn, assist/give back to my community, form long-lasting friendships, and have fun while working and learning.
