NHC Public Health Leadership operates in Central California, Florida, Philadelphia region, Pittsburgh and the San Francisco Bay region.  You do not need to be a resident of a specific region to apply. 

NHC held a prospective member information session on Thursday,  February 29, 2025 from 7-8:30pm ET. If you weren't able to join us, you can watch the recording here to learn more about the program and the application process, as well as hear from some current members and alumni.

About NHC's Application Process

We enthusiastically welcome applicants with a variety of backgrounds and experiences!

Most NHC members serve either a 900- or 1,700 hour service term over 42-52 weeks. Members are placed in open service positions on a rolling basis.

Interview with NHC Staff
If moved forward, applicant completes interview with NHC staff
Chat with NHC Operating Site Staff
If moved forward, many candidates will have a brief meeting with NHC operating site staff to discuss positions of interest.
Position Selection Form
Candidate completes Position Selection Form for sites of interest
Host Site Interview
If moved forward, Host site supervisors invite and conduct interviews with all candidates
Post-host Site Interview
Host sites communicate offers to NHC staff to share with selected candidates
Offers Made
NHC staff will notify candidate of all offers the candidate receives
