Educational background: B.A. in Psychology from Carleton College.
What is your title and role at your host site?
Community Health and Prevention Coordinator.
Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I decided to join AmeriCorps because the inequalities and health disparities that exist in our country are too severe for me to ignore. I wanted to commit to a year of service addressing these health disparities and gaining more skills and experience while I have the time and flexibility in my life to do so.
What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
From my year of service, I hope to gain a better understanding of the most pressing issues related to child and adolescent health in America as well as experience and professional skills that will help me succeed in the future.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
After serving with AmeriCorps, I plan on pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself having recently finished graduate school, hopefully beginning my career in the field of public health as an epidemiologist.
