What is your title and role at your host site?

Health Educator at Primary Care Health Services

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?

While serving in my local communities such as Flint and Detroit, it was difficult not to notice how healthcare disparities impact the quality and access of each individual area. It was important to me to continue to work in similar communities to provide resources and information to directly influence a population.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?

I’m hoping to gain a new perspective pertaining to healthcare and public health, as well as acquire skills and experiences that will benefit those I serve now and in the future.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?

My plan is to pursue a degree in medicine so that I can serve medically underserved communities long-term.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

I’m grateful that my year of service with Americorps will expose me to various fields of medicine to help narrow down my focus of interest for my medical career!
