What is your title and role at your host site?
Youth health care coordinator for UPMC Adolescent Medicine. My role is to collaborate with physicians and the community to help adolescents and young adults with their healthcare education and other needs they may have.
Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I joined AmeriCorps/National Health Corps because I believe that this program can make a difference in the world and in my life. The last four years of my life have been filled with service and helping the community I live in and I know that NHC can help me continue that journey. I love helping those who are in need especially in relation to healthcare.
What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
Throughout this next year I hope to gain a better understanding of public health as well as grow personally and professionally.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
I plan to go back to Charlotte, NC and take one more year to prepare myself for a career in medicine.
Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself in my last years of medical school, making my dream come true.
