What is your title and role at your host site?
At my host site I will serve as a Health Educator. I will be responsible for conducting  tobacoo prevention and communicable diseases education classes, planning nutrition and physical activity programs, and conducting health screenings.

Why did you join the National Health Corps Florida AmeriCorps Program?
I knew that after graduating college I wanted to do something meaningful and something that I would gain the most experience from. Having a degree in the health field allows me to look at the numerous unique ways to do just that.
I was drawn to the NHC Florida AmeriCorps Program because it offers me the opportunity to serve within the community while providing me with guidance and assistance not only during my year of service but after too.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
Gaining first hand experience from a public health position is something I am most excited about. I plan to take away every piece of knowledge I learn and put it towards my future.
Additionally, I am hoping that after my year of service I will have a clearer understanding of which area of public health I am most passionate about and want to pursue for my career.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
Hoping that I find a position that fits my skills at the right time, serving with Peace Corps is something I plan to do. I love the idea of being able to take what I've learned in my year of service with AmeriCorps and putting it to use in another area in the world that's in need.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
Whether I stay abroad past my 2 years of service with Peace Corps or return to the states, I hope to be finishing up or finished with my Masters in Public Health. Starting a NFP that allows me to travel around the world educating and providing public health services to areas in need is another dream of mine that I hope will come true around this 5 year mark.
