What is your title and role at your host site?
As a Health Educator, I will facilitate classes and workshops to support health education, as well as employment preparation, computer literacy, and other educational benefits at the Career and Education Department. My goals are to encourage and prepare clients for a successful and healthy life once they leave Sulzbacher center.

Why did you join the National Health Corps Florida AmeriCorps program?​ I joined the National Health Corps to better serve those in need. I’ve always had a strong passion for helping others and teaching, with a particular interest in public health, so this seemed like a perfect fit.

What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?​ From my year of service I hope to gain more confidence and skills in the area of nursing and medicine. I would love to make others feel as though their lives have been improved from classes, workshops, or even one- on- one conversations they’ve had at the
center.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps service? ​My plans for after AmeriCorps are still a mystery. Some ideas include going to nursing school or becoming an EMT and eventually working for Red Cross or another international relief organization. Another option is continuing my education in the area of foreign relations with a concentration in international health.

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years? ​In 5 years I see myself volunteering with an international organization somewhere around the world.
